What's new

Real updates about Mr.Speech. We highlight new features, performance enhancements, and bug fixes without the under-the-hood developer jargon.

Version 1.6.8

Lighter, Smoother, Clear About Your Minutes

2026-08-11

The app asks less of a modest machine, live meetings tell you how much time you have left and stop cleanly when it runs out, and project questions draw on everything in the project with every source clickable.

  • NewYou are warned before your live meeting minutes run out, and the meeting stops cleanly when they do: as you approach your monthly limit the meeting shows how much time is left, and when the limit is reached it stops exactly as it would if you had pressed stop, so the recording and the transcript are saved. A meeting that captures both your microphone and the other side uses two minutes of your allowance per minute of conversation, and the time shown to you is real conversation time.
  • ImprovementProject meeting questions use the whole project, and every source in an answer is clickable: answers draw on relevant transcripts, linked notes and the current rolling plan, including card columns and live task state. A source marker opens the exact note or card, and a transcript source centres and highlights the line it came from instead of only opening the meeting.
  • ImprovementThe app is noticeably smoother and lighter on a modest machine: the recording pill animates without repainting the window on every level change, the main window stops re-rendering when nothing has changed, and startup loads a fraction of what it used to because each language is fetched only when you choose it. Speech models hand memory back after half an hour unused, and on Windows checking whether your microphone is in use no longer starts a small background program every two seconds.
  • ImprovementThe scratchpad shows formatting instead of symbols: headings, lists, checklists, quotes and bold now render as you write them, with a short block menu on the slash key. Copying gives you clean text with your list markers kept and none of the formatting symbols.
  • ImprovementApps you connect to Mr.Speech are told which actions change your data: a connected assistant now knows, for every action, whether it only reads your content or writes to it, so it can ask you first.
  • FixWindows updates close the app's helper programs before installation begins, so an update can no longer be blocked by a file still in use. The recording pill also stays where you dragged it when it shrinks back, and its waveform moves with your voice again.
Version 1.6.7

Bring Your Meeting History With You

2026-08-10

Import your past meetings from another meeting app with a single browser sign-in. Plus a microphone that stays selected when you move it to another port, stronger protection against a finished transcript being emptied, and note-writing AI that applies what you asked for directly.

  • NewImport your meeting history from another app: sign in once in your browser, approve access, and Mr.Speech brings over transcripts, summaries, attendees and folder structure automatically. Granola is the supported source today.
  • FixA finished meeting transcript can never be silently emptied: a transcript that had been fully written could be replaced with nothing, leaving a meeting that looked processed but held no words. Both the app and the server now refuse to overwrite real content with an empty transcript.
  • FixYour saved microphone stays selected when you move it to another port: Windows renames a microphone when it changes USB port, and that used to silently break your choice. If your microphone genuinely is not connected, a message now names what is being recorded instead, where before it fell back with nothing shown at all.
  • FixNote-writing AI keeps your attachments and edits the right note: images and files could be dropped when a note was rewritten or moved, resized images lost their size, and an edit meant for one note could land in another. It also applies a requested diagram, table or checklist directly instead of handing back source and an extra step.
  • ImprovementMeetings stay in sync while asking far less of the server: the background check that watches your other devices now proves who you are once an hour instead of on every check, with the same freshness and the same sign-out behaviour.
Version 1.6.6

Meetings That Follow You

2026-08-06

The projects you file meetings into now sync across your devices, a project's rolling plan says which project it belongs to and each card opens the meeting it came from, and the meeting assistant can close and comment on cards instead of only adding more. Plus meeting notes written in the meeting's own language, and fixes to long meetings, plan date pickers and the notes sidebar.

  • NewThe projects you file meetings into now sync across your devices: a project created on one computer, and the meetings filed into it, never reached another. Projects now sync both ways, arriving before the meetings that reference them, and a deleted project stays deleted instead of reappearing.
  • NewThe meeting assistant can finish and comment on plan cards, not just add new ones: a task you completed between two meetings used to produce a duplicate card instead of closing the first. It can now mark a card done or comment on it, and only ever touches cards already on the plan.
  • ImprovementA project's rolling plan says which project it belongs to: it used to be labelled after whichever meeting created it first. It now reads as the project's plan and opens the project, and each card opens the meeting it actually came from.
  • ImprovementMeeting notes are written in the meeting's language: the headings inside a meeting note were always English whatever was spoken. Set the meeting's language and they follow it, so a French meeting gets French headings even when the app is in English.
  • FixSpeaker identification and meeting resume work again on long meetings: a check added in the last version compared saved audio against the meeting clock too strictly, so from about the 15 minute mark every live meeting was wrongly told it had no complete audio.
  • ImprovementLive meeting transcripts no longer include filler sounds, meeting settings are simpler, and you can rename or delete a meeting straight from the meeting list. Deleting one now asks what to do with the notes and plans it created.
  • FixA phantom apology no longer appears from a silent microphone, date pickers close when you click away, a notebook you closed stays closed, and the sync row in the account menu actually syncs.
Version 1.6.5

Meetings You Can Rely On

2026-08-03

A meetings and notes reliability release: your own side of a live meeting is never dropped, you can look back at an earlier conversation while a new one is still recording, meetings get a folder-first library with their own AI workspace, and note-writing AI produces properly formatted math, diagrams and layout.

  • FixYour own words are never deleted from a live meeting: the safeguard that removes text invented during silence was checking the wrong moment and landing on the pause after you finished speaking. Short replies were the usual casualty. It now allows for that timing drift, and leaves your words alone when there is not enough audio to judge.
  • NewA folder-first meeting library and workspace: organize meetings into projects without moving anything in Notes, start a meeting with its project context already attached, and browse every conversation in a spacious view grouped by date, with a persistent Ask AI conversation that cites its sources.
  • FixLook back at an earlier meeting while a new one records: opening a past conversation used to hand its screen over to the running recording. It now stays exactly what you opened, with a clear way back to the live one, and starting a second meeting is refused with an explanation instead of silently switching you over.
  • FixMeetings survive microphone trouble: a microphone that goes digitally silent is reopened automatically and must deliver real sound before it counts as recovered, switching to a Bluetooth headset mid-meeting keeps everything captured so far, and echo from your speakers no longer swallows quiet speech.
  • ImprovementMath and diagrams read like finished notes: formulas can sit naturally inside a sentence, flowcharts open as the rendered visual rather than raw source, and diagrams draw as soon as the note opens.
  • ImprovementMr.Speech tells you about new versions while it is running: it used to check once at startup and never again, so an update could sit unnoticed for weeks. It now keeps looking in the background, including in the tray menu, and never interrupts a meeting to install.
  • FixRestoring a note or notebook from another device actually brings it back, while deletions stay protected, and automatic correction learning is now review-first, so edits become replacements only when you approve them.
Version 1.6.0

Private On-Device Dictation & a Powerful Notes Editor

2026-07-15

A major release: fully private on-device dictation with live text, dictation that adapts to whatever app you're writing in, a notes editor with nothing to envy Confluence, on-device and in-room meeting transcription, and notebooks inside notebooks, plus faster long dictations and sturdier recordings.

  • NewFully private, on-device dictation: a new engine runs entirely on your computer. Nothing is sent anywhere, it works with no internet, and words appear live as you speak. It's the new recommended local engine, with a one-time model download and an on-device badge when it's active.
  • NewDictation adapts to the app you're writing in: a mail app gets a properly laid-out email (never a sign-off you didn't say), chat stays casual, and code editors keep technical terms exact, recognized from the app or browser tab, read only on your device.
  • NewA notes editor with nothing to envy Confluence: spreadsheet-like tables, a slash quick-insert menu, text colors and highlights, collapsible panels and callouts, real syntax-highlighted code blocks, and resizable images, all preserved in exports.
  • NewMeetings on your device and in the room: transcribe meetings with the fast, private engine, pick a room microphone for in-person meetings, and open a high-contrast caption-only display on a second screen.
  • NewNotebooks inside notebooks: organize notes as a real tree such as School then Math, create a child notebook where it belongs, and browse full paths across search, graph, and exports.
  • NewSpoken lists become lists: say a grocery list of milk, eggs and bread and get a tidy bulleted list, while ordinary amounts stay a normal sentence. Every mode is now easy to find from the floating overlay too.
  • ImprovementLong dictations finish as fast as short ones: audio is transcribed in the background as you speak, so a ten-minute dictation still finishes in about two seconds, and hold-to-record now runs up to 15 minutes.
  • FixSturdier recordings: meeting audio is continuously saved and recovered after a crash, tables can no longer be lost on reload, and sharing a note or notebook with a person is safer and clearer.
Version 1.5.2

Reliable Installs & Hands-Free Controls

2026-06-30

A reliability-and-polish update: the app now starts on a fresh Windows PC with nothing else installed, meetings you've pre-set just process without asking again, plus new hands-free music controls and a clearer path to connect Mr.Speech to your AI assistant.

  • FixStarts on a fresh Windows PC: on machines missing the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime, the app could fail to open with an "MSVCP140 missing" error. The installer now sets up that component automatically when it is not already present.
  • NewHands-free music and volume: skip to the next or previous track or set your system volume by voice while you record, and on a Mac start playback from your Apple Music library.
  • NewChoose how meetings are transcribed on your device, and see how long it will take with an accurate estimate before processing starts.
  • ImprovementA clearer way to connect Mr.Speech to your AI assistant: a prominent setup-guide button and a rewritten step-by-step guide for both local and cloud setups.
  • ImprovementPlans boards: cleaner, quicker card creation, reusable labels, and reminders at a specific time, not just a date.
  • ImprovementMeetings you've pre-set just process: stopping a pre-configured meeting now handles it straight away instead of asking again, plus cleaner summaries and titles.
Version 1.5.1

Reliable Long Meetings

2026-06-24

A reliability update for cloud meetings: long recordings now process all the way through, and any meeting that doesn't finish can be retried with a single tap.

  • FixLong meetings transcribe reliably in the cloud: a long recording (up to around three hours) no longer fails partway and loses its transcript, while keeping the same speaker labeling you'd get from a shorter meeting.
  • FixReprocess a meeting that didn't finish: if a meeting ever fails to process, it's kept safely and a one-tap Reprocess button lets you try again in the cloud, or on your device when your hardware can handle it. Available in all 10 languages.
Version 1.5.0

A Brand-New Notes Workspace

2026-06-17

A major update centered on a completely rebuilt Notes experience: a clean writing workspace that takes in your existing documents, exports anywhere, and connects to your Plans boards, plus faster meetings and a friendlier first run.

  • NewNotes, Rebuilt: A clean, Notion-like writing workspace with a tidy collapsible sidebar, always-editable pages, your open notes as tabs across the top bar, and a polished command palette for searching by text or meaning.
  • NewBring Your Documents In: Import a Word document, PDF, or web page and it becomes a fully editable note, so you can start from what you already have.
  • NewExport Anywhere: Send any note to PDF, HTML, or Markdown, including self-contained exports that travel with their images and attachments so they open correctly in any browser or editor.
  • NewNotes Meet Plans: Link a card to a note and jump between them, see the boards and cards that point back at a note, and links to deleted items are now greyed out instead of leading nowhere.
  • NewControl Mr.Speech from Your AI Assistant: Connect Mr.Speech as a tool so AI assistants can read and manage your notes, notebooks, boards, cards, and tasks, all on your machine.
  • ImprovementFaster, Clearer Meetings: Speaker labeling is about 2.6x faster, the speaker-count question stays pinned and visible, finished meetings open and pre-load their replay instantly, and AI replies render with proper formatting.
  • ImprovementA Friendlier First Run, Native on Mac: Onboarding teaches by doing, with correct Mac keycaps, direct links to each macOS permission pane, and Mac-appropriate shortcut defaults.
Version 1.4.12

  • NewCalendar Export: Send any due date to your system calendar (a native event on macOS, a standard calendar file on Windows and Linux), then click it to jump back to the exact task or note.
  • NewReplay Any Meeting: Finished meetings now have a player that mixes every voice into one recording you can scrub and speed up, with click-to-seek timestamps and a live-highlighted transcript.
  • ImprovementYou Decide the Speaker Count: Meeting speaker identification now asks how many people were in the call, so it labels them reliably instead of inventing extra speakers, and stays adjustable anytime at no cloud cost.
  • ImprovementFriendlier Date & Time Picker: Choosing a due date or reminder now uses a single, tidy popover with one-tap presets, translated into every supported language.
  • ImprovementBroader Native Translations: Many more screens, including Settings, meetings, notifications, and onboarding, are now natively translated across all 10 languages.
  • FixWindows Shortcut Reliability: Hold-to-talk shortcuts now fire from any window, take effect immediately after you change them, and recognize fast combo presses.
